The Healthy Fun Balance is a way to share the aspects of a healthy lifestyle that I enjoy with others. It is definitely a challenge to pursue a healthy lifestyle in modern day Western Society however, the benefits are well worth the effort. Once you have figured out your own healthy-fun balance, being healthy starts to become more fun and less challenging.
My name is Amy, I am 22 years old and am eager to share my passion for health with others through my future career. I am currently studying in a Natural Chef program at Bauman College in Berkeley California. This program does a wonderful job at combining Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts. I believe that cooking and education are the two missing links in the Standard American lifestyle. While I am cooking up a storm at Bauman College, I am also getting a Health Coach certification from Institute for Integrative Nutrition. My nutrition philosophy is based on “SOUL” foods which are Seasonal, Organic, Unrefined and Local. My fitness philosophy is that humans were not meant to sit behind desks all day, we were designed to move our bodies through out the day. In order to move our bodies to our full potential, we need to fuel it with the right nutrients, hydration and get adequate rest.
When someone is healthy it means that they do not have to take medication on a daily basis to not feel pain. When someone is healthy it means that they nourish their body adequately with whole foods, exercise, relationships, and a healthy environment. A big part of being healthy is having a healthy mindset. This healthy mindset allows us to be aware of our happiness, the health & happiness of others as well as the health of our environment.
It all starts with education and awareness. Through this blog I hope to educate others about choices that help support a healthy, balanced and FUN lifestyle.
